KIDS HEADSHOTS PHOTOSHOOT SHOWING 3 DIFFERENT LOOKS

As a kids headshot photographer in Los Angeles, I am always asked what should my child wear for his photoshoot? In this post, I wanted to show you a sample of a 5 year old kids headshot session and what she wore for her headshots. I always tell parents this is not a beauty pageant and we are not "glamming" the child actor up. You want your headshots to reflect "you" on a good day. So yes the clothes should be pressed, clean and stain free. However, we are not looking for fancy. Casual clothes that show the child as different types or characters is what should be worn. For example a girl next door, a spunky kid, a drama look, and a comercial look could be 4 different wardrobe choices. Here the young actress shows three different looks from her kids headshot photoshoot. She has a smiling commercial look, a more serious drama look and then since she also does some print modeling she has a full body look wearing overalls which I would classify as a "spunky kid". The wardrobe choices 'pop" and they look good with her skin tone. Also, the clothing reflects an approachable child, not a glammed up pageant girl. Pageants are fine and fun, but for a kids headshot photoshoot, you want to show them more natural. As a kids headshot photographer I recommend you bring several options with wardrobe.

Child modeling photoshoots are slightly different then an child actor headshot photoshoot. For one, with actors you are mostly concentrating on the face and expressions and or types an actor might play. But with models, casting wants to see your body type. Tall and leggy, petite, athletic? KIDS HEADSHOTS AND CHILD MODELING PHOTOSHOOT

Here are some examples of kids headshots and child modeling headshots that were taken recently with a young child model and actress. Her session included multiple changes to her hair and wardrobe. We also had a hair and make up artist for the photoshoot. Of course the make up was extremely light since she is so young...just a bit of concealor under the eyes and lipgloss, a little glow on the cheeks. These are just a few images out of hundreds of shots, from her kids headshots and modeling photoshoot. Kids heashots should always be on the natural side, but having a hairstylist is helpful to "polish" the look or to create different hairstyles. This child does both acting and modeling so we incorporated both close up headshots for the acting profile and full body images for her child modeling headshots.
